If you’ve just taken the jump into modern electric heating or have been enjoying room-by-room control for some time now, it’s always a good idea to keep up to date on how to set and programme your Fischer wireless thermostat.
One of the highlights when it comes to Fischer’s electric heating solutions, is the exclusive wireless thermostat. Fischer’s wireless thermostat gives you complete control over their heating and allows you to experience room by room control, along with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from modern heating.
We’ve compiled a handy guide to help you understand your device, ensuring you get the most from your heating systems and most importantly, keeping you warm and comfortable.
Turn the thermostat dial to “PROG” and you will see the above screen display
Along the top of the screen, you have the days of the week (1–7). In the middle of the screen, you will see a clock displaying midnight.
Underneath the clock, there will be a series of black boxes and blank spaces. Beneath the boxes you will see the numbers 0-22 (these indicate the 24 hours of the day)
At the bottom of the screen you will see symbols for the “SUN” and “MOON” and “OK”. Wherever the black boxes are located (above the numbers), indicates the time/s your heating is set to maintain the comfort (sun) temperature, the blank spaces (above the numbers) indicate the time/s the heating will maintain the economy (moon) temperature.
First things first, it’s important to make sure you have the correct time and date.
The advantage of Fischer heaters is you have full control. You can individually heat each room just how you like it.
We would advise anyone to set their thermostats to only heat the rooms to the ‘comfort’ temperature when they are in use. The rest of the time, leave the heaters ticking over on the economy temperature.
Below is a step-by-step guide to programming your wireless thermostat.
Economy temperature
The economy temperature is the lowest temperature you wish the room to reach when not in use. We advise the economy temperature to be set between 16-18°C (for a room with a comfort setting of 21°C). To alter the economy temperature setting, turn the thermostat dial to the “MOON” symbol. Use the plus or minus buttons to adjust the temperature.
Comfort temperature
The comfort temperature is the temperature you desire your room to warm up to while you are using it. To adjust it, turn the thermostat dial to the “SUN” symbol, then use the plus or minus buttons to set the desired temperature.
Anti-frost temperature
The anti-frost temperature can be used when going away for a period of time. Your electric boiler will switch on only when the room temperature drops below the temperature you have set on the thermostat. This way you can keep your pipes from freezing while you are away. To set the anti-frost temperature, turn the dial to the snow flake symbol. Use the plus and minus buttons to adjust to the desired temperature. We advise a minimum of 7°C.
Using the thermostat manually
Turn the thermostat dial to the “SUN” position whenever you would like the room to be heated to your comfort temperature. The boiler will maintain the comfort temperature as long as the thermostat is left on the “SUN” position.
Whenever the room is no longer being used, turn the thermostat dial to the “MOON” position to maintain the Economy temperature. The “MOON” setting should also be used to maintain a base temperature throughout the night.
If you have Economy 7, ensure your programming switches from background to comfort between 5am & 7am.
Holiday Mode
If you are not at home for an extended period, you can set the boiler to maintain a specific temperature without having to alter your current day to day programming.
To set holiday mode:
Manual Override
While on the “AUTO” screen, press the second button from the left (symbol of a hand). You will notice the current setting (comfort or economy) change to the other one (the symbol of the sun will change to the moon or vice versa). If you want to cancel the override, press the same button and the thermostat will revert to the standard program. If left on, the thermostat will automatically revert to the standard programming when the next change of temperature setting is due.
Limited (Timed) Override
Sometimes if things aren’t working as they should be, a reset can be the best course of action to get your thermostat and heating system back up and synchronised. It’s easy to perform a manual reset by following the instructions below.
1. Turn the dial on the thermostat to the standby/OFF position.
2. Press and hold the button on top of the receiver (receiver located on the side of the boiler) for 3
seconds. After 3 seconds, the light will begin to flash. When this happens, release the button straight away.
3. Now, the light will be flashing intermittently by itself.
4. Press and hold down the far left button on the thermostat until the screen changes to read “Sync.”
5. After 5 seconds, the light on the receiver will disappear. The thermostat and receiver are now
synchronised. Turn the dial back to auto to return to your heating program.
We have a few extra recommendations for anyone who wants to change their heating program or temperatures.
For a living space, such as a lounge, we recommend 21 degrees on your comfort setting and 16-18 degrees on your economy setting.
For a conservatory, we recommend 19 degrees on comfort and 16 on economy.
For bedrooms, hallways and other rooms throughout the home, we recommend 20 on comfort and 15-17 on economy.
It’s a common misconception that leaving your heating switched off overnight will save money. By switching off your heating completely, it means, on a cold winter morning, when the outside temperature is in the minuses, your heater will have to stay on for longer to warm up your room.
If you use an overnight economy temperature, it keeps the fabric of the building warm and means your heater only has to warm the room by a few degrees every morning. By having a 3-5 degree difference between the two temperatures, you ensure your heater does not have a lot of work to do to get the room up to temperature.

When it comes to programming your thermostat – don’t sacrifice your comfort to save a few hours’ worth of energy. As humans, we’re not cut out for the cold, so we need to make sure we are in control of both our comfort and the temperature of our homes.
Many people program their heaters to switch off way before they need them to, in an attempt to cut their energy usage. The advantage of Fischer heaters is you have full control.
We would advise anyone to set their thermostats to only heat the rooms to the comfort temperature when they are in use. The rest of the time, leave the heaters ticking over on the economy temperature. Simple!
If the duration of the power cut has been several hours, your boiler/electric radiator and thermostat may have lost their pairing. To check that the boiler and thermostat are still paired up please follow the instructions below:
1) Turn the thermostat dial to the “SUN” position, press the “+” button until you see a flame symbol on the screen.
Check the receiver (on the side of the boiler), a red light should start flashing, then stay on constantly. If the light stays on constantly, alternate the thermostat dial between the “Standby” position and the “SUN” position, the receiver should respond by the light switching off when the dial is on “Standby” and staying on when the dial is on the “SUN”. That shows the thermostat and boiler are talking to each other, switch the dial back to “AUTO”.
1. Remove the back cover of the thermostat, and ensure the batteries are in place by pressing firmly on each of them.
2. The screen should now light up and display your usual settings.
3. Secure the back cover onto the thermostat.
4. Replace the thermostat batteries
Don’t turn the boiler/radiator off at the mains, instead turn the dial on the thermostat to the standby/off position. Turning the your electric heating off at the mains can cause the thermostat to lose its connection to the receiver, and will require a reset when the time comes to use your heating again.

When advising customers how to improve their home’s energy efficiency, you need a firm grasp of heat-loss calculations. Making heat-loss calculations a mandatory part of every heating installation means we will be able to recommend a heating solution that strikes the right balance between being powerful enough to meet peak demand for heat and being efficient enough to keep consumption and emissions down. As part of the survey, it is important to understand and anticipate a customer’s heating needs, so talking to our prospective customers is an important part of our process. Heat-loss calculations balance the amount of energy needed to overcome the heat loss through the fabric of your home. Every home is different so there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL SOLUTION.
